Into Thy Hands: An Interactive Art & Prayer Experience

  • Fremont Presbyterian Church (map)

On Palm Sunday, March 28, artists will be at Fremont creating paintings that illustrate the seven days of Jesus’ life from Palm Sunday through Resurrection Sunday. From 9 am to 3 pm, you will have the opportunity to observe the artists in action as they create their art on 4’x 8’ panels in the Fremont parking lot. The lot will give the artists and observers ample room to stay socially distant, and everyone will be required to wear masks.

The completed artworks will be available for public viewing throughout Holy Week. The panels will be on display in the church courtyard breezeway until Easter Sunday afternoon.  Accompanying each art piece will be an artist’s statement, a scripture reference, and a call to prayer and reflection. Stop by during Holy Week, day or evening, and let the art inspire you to spend some quiet time in God’s peaceful presence.

Commitment Sunday 2020

Commitment Sunday 2020

November marks our focus on Fremont’s GROW. GIVE. GO. Stewardship ministry program.

We are invited to GROW as disciples. Our mission is to create space for people to become life-long followers of Jesus.  “Come, follow me,” Jesus said.

We are invited, and dare we say, commanded, to GIVE as the Lord has given to us.  Consider these words from King David in I Chronicles 29:14:  “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.”

Finally, we are also commanded to GO. “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”  (Matthew 28:19).  Though 2020 has felt like “STOP,” what if the Lord is preparing us for our future?  These last few months have felt like, “Stop!” However, in God’s kingdom, what if it is a preparation for a new going?

On November 22nd, we’ll have the opportunity to commit to how we might GROW. GIVE. GO. in 2021.

#JesusChangedMyLife

#JesusChangedMyLife

On Easter our church will not be able to gather in-person as we traditionally do. This is heartbreaking because COVID-19 has many people looking for answers to life’s deepest questions and wondering if there is any hope. This, more than ever, is the time for the church to rise up and proclaim the message of the resurrection. But how can we do this when we are not allowed to meet?

We believe this obstacle is actually an opportunity — an opportunity to share the gospel with far more people than we typically would on Easter and to empower you to be the primary heralds of that good news.

Imagine….

We help equip you to share your testimony, then, on the week leading up to Easter, we all post our sixty-second videos on social media with the hashtag #JesusChangedMyLife. People all over our city, quarantined in their homes and scrolling on their phones, would see a flood of stories about how the resurrected Jesus brings purpose and meaning and hope. One click on the hashtag and they could see hundreds of Sacramentans — just like them — from churches all across the Sacramento Region talking about how Jesus changed the trajectory of their lives!

The best part is that all of us are the ones proclaiming the gospel. Furthermore, this will be a beautiful display of the unity of the church in Sacramento and around the world; it’s not one church’s “thing.” Rather, it puts all the emphasis on Jesus.

What's Your Story?

We’ve all heard the gospel called good news. But another way to translate that term is “the good story.”

Every one of us has a unique story to tell. One no one else can tell. Yet the hero in all those stories is the same — Jesus!

Then post your story any time April 6-12 with the #JesusChangedMyLife hashtag and your church’s handle to connect viewers to a local church (i.e. #JesusChangedMyLife @FremontPres) where they will be invited to an join an online Easter gathering, hear the gospel preached, learn how to respond with faith, and find how to get connected with a local church.

Opportunities to Serve

Fremont is filled with helpers and the past week has been a huge testament to this fact. It has been a joy to see many of you sign up on our VOMO Volunteer Hub to serve our seniors and write cards.  We are working on ways to expand our volunteer efforts and are considering ways to serve our entire church body, our mission partners, and our local community. Here are a few ways you can connect and serve in the weeks and months ahead:

  1. Check VOMO regularly! All of the current opportunities are listed and new ones will be added regularly. If you don't have VOMO yet, now is the time to get it. Download the app in your app store or go to www.vomo.org and create an account (our code is FREMONTSERVE).

  2. Send your service ideas to via email kristen@fremontpres.org

  3. Tell us about needs in your community via email kristen@fremontpres.org

  4. Share your volunteer success stories with us via email kristen@fremontpres.org

We can't promise to run with every idea or serve every need, but we promise to read them all and do our best to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
