Equipping
9:00 AM in E211: How to study the Bible
This six-week class will look at proven bible study methods, how to approach the Old and New Testament, different genres of scripture, obtain tools for study, as well as how to approach difficult passages. We will talk about how we may perceive scripture to have a cultural gap, apparent contradiction or mystery, and how we can use context, a search for surprises, and prayer to better understand what scripture means for us.
Doctrine
10:30 am in E211: The Unfolding mystery: discovering christ in the old testament
This is an eight-week class based upon the book “The Unfolding Mystery.” In this class we will tour together the intricate tapestry of God's organic redemptive plan woven throughout the Old Testament that centers on Jesus Christ as its central figure. By exploring the typological connections between events and characters, we will see how seemingly disparate stories, laws, and prophecies in the Old Testament anticipate and point to the person and work of Christ. As we consider key passages and themes, you will gain a deeper perspective and appreciation for the unity and coherence of Scripture and come away from our time together understanding the overarching narrative of God's love and faithfulness, culminating in the ultimate fulfillment of His promises in Christ.
Mission
10:30 am in E210: A Life on Mission
This is a six-week class exploring our role in participating in the command found in Matthew 28 called the Great Commission. Jesus calls us into his global redemption plan for all people. He commissioned the Church and asks all believers to play their part. Sometimes Christians wonder what their purpose or “calling” is. This class helps equip ordinary people to play an extraordinary role in living into God’s greatest purpose. Most of us will do this without ever becoming a missionary. Come discover your role in the Great Commission.
