SCRIPTURE: Luke 4
KEY POINTS TO PONDER: Jesus faces temptation from Satan. Where the “first Adam” failed by giving into temptation and plunging us into sin, Jesus as the “second Adam” succeeds where Adam failed. We see a huge weapon in overcoming temptation is to know the Word of God.
CHALLENGING TERMS: Jesus is quoting from an Old Testament book, Isaiah, in verses 18-19, to reveal that he is the expected Messiah. In verses 24-29, Jesus is showing how all people groups are included in the plan of redemption.
REFLECTION: Where are you currently feeling like you are under a barrage of temptations? To what extent are you utilizing your most powerful weapon, Scripture, in fighting it?
PRAYER: Father, thank you for crafting for us such an amazing weapon with your Word to overcome the evil within ourselves and within this world. Help me to learn to utilize the words of Scripture to overcome the battles I am currently facing. Help my temptation to create a greater love and dependence for your Word.
