Scripture: Luke 8

Key Points to Ponder: The parable of the sower, or four soils, reveals to us the different conditions of our heart when we hear the Word of God. Jesus demonstrates authority over a storm, demons, disease, and death.

Challenging Terms: In telling the parables, Jesus wanted people to really listen and understand what he was saying. For those whose hearts were hard the meaning was hidden. For those who welcomed the Word truth was revealed.  

Reflection: Which of the four soils in the parable most accurately reflects your heart posture towards the Word of God? Out of all the ways Jesus demonstrates his authority in this chapter which of them seems most remarkable to you?

Prayer: Father, thank you for sending us a Savior filled with both compassion and the power to save us from evil. Help me to have a heart posture which is good soil, and therefore bears much fruit.
