Meet Debbie! Children’s Ministry Director
I was initially drawn to Fremont more than 15 years ago because of its many wonderful programs for children. I stayed because, in addition to great programs, I discovered a community of Christ followers who displayed genuine care and concern for my children and their spiritual growth. I wanted my four children to grow up surrounded by this community. After homeschooling for 16 years, volunteering with children in Sunday school, music ministry and American Heritage Girls, the Lord provided an opportunity for me to join the staff in 2019. I am amazed at how God used my experiences serving in the U.S. Navy, working as a lawyer, and staying home teaching my children to prepare me for this role. I now have the best job at Fremont, partnering with families and volunteers to help children come to know and develop a relationship with Jesus, and giving back to the community that was such an important part of my own children’s growth. Every week I am blessed by the enthusiasm and joy children bring to prayer and worship, and by the way they share their stories, their artistic creations, and their love for Jesus.
At home I enjoy both the peacefulness of reading quietly and the joyful noise of hosting game nights. I treasure the time I spend with my children who are growing up and moving away, and am looking forward to what God has planned for this next season with just my youngest at home.
Meet Janelle! Children’s Ministry Assistant
I grew up in Modesto, CA attending Trinity United Presbyterian Church with my parents and grandparents. They instilled in me a love of serving God and helping others. After graduating from UC Davis, I taught at Theodore Judah Elementary School for 13 years until I became a mom of two wonderful children. For the past 12 years I have been a grateful participant in Fremont’s excellent programs for moms and children like MOPS, Fremont Nursery School, VBS, AHG, and Upward. My husband Jim and I began worshiping at Fremont in 2018. I joined the staff in October 2019 as Debbie’s assistant. I love gardening, reading, scrapbooking, and making families feel welcome at Fremont.
